Psychobilly Zombie Burger
Ramblings of a Tired Girl, but it’s all True and it’s cultural analysis too.
When you land you see all industrial things that are all objects that are important and often flash and they are all infront and to the side of you and they are important like I said before. The four of them sat under a blanket in a shisha bar playing avant-garde videos on the tv screen. Names and other things were coming out the girls mouth.
TV She: The Psychobilly Prophecy, caricature of Teddy Boy/ Rockabilly, Psychobillies are very 2025, in the ethos.. do you know what I mean?
When the plane landed she was surrounded by the grey of industry and the neon pulse of alerts, and then there’s the ones in the green or yellow and it’s called high vis - and in every city, country, land they are the ones that those two things that scream in various colours will capture of the new place. As in the things which are glued into basins in your head (apparently in the middle of your face when drawing or painting a face on paper or canvas with a hand or fingers) both sitting there. Laughing happily, diagonally and upward from your nose. The people usually push the heavy crates or things which may as well be crates which are always nearly shades of clouds ranging from heavy rain to light mist. The people in the bright jackets sometimes gesture to you to way find across the newLands concrete. It’s almost always a direction to enter the building which the concrete waits outside of, occasionally it’s a rattling thing with wheels but the destination is always the building. The building can also be used as a portal to more high vis people from another newLand. The relevancy is the fact they are the first ones of the newLand to greet the passengers descending from the flight. Usually not in words or any language just in presence and movement alone. It’s a pointless but notable connection of a thing worth highlighting like the forever connection between a chin and folding. One always uses a chin to fold a blanket, its hands, arms and chin for folding, only when it’s large, and that’s always the case. The people in the high vis who push the crates and belong to the industrial objects of the airport are the first port of call of representation of the newLand, it’s them and the line of landscape and the grey and flashing, there’s no pageantry here and certainly none with them. Sometimes they have orange flashing branches to guide a huge loud shouting thing which holds the passengers who descend from it once its no longer in the air, then they enter the always grey as grey industrial land which is the secret garden of the airport. The limbo temporaryLand which houses the high vis ones who are temporary tourist attractions or souvenirs. It’s the shoulder brush of the culture of the newLand its subconscious but it’s also not at all. The horse takes flight and the people go too and it’s not a thing to remember really but it’s just an interesting thing, as in the importance and reliability of them on every holiday ever taken if you’ve taken a Pegasus as the Mode of Transport.
Back In the shisha bar there’s an accordion and glamour playing on the TV. A girl on the screen speaks or rambles about Psychobillies and zombie burgers and the relevance of that to something or other.
TV She: and the thing with Psychobillies is the way they are the cartoonists of the Rockabilly it’s the reference of the reference accompanied by pink hair and a studded belt and an air of culture induced psychosis. I think we’ve entered the Psychobilly universe there’s zombie burgers all round. The cartoonist feels fondly of the the Rockabilly but isn’t in there right then it’s the outsiders outside in look at that 50’s American milkshake rock n roll culture and it’s synthetic and laughing. It isn’t laughing at it it’s laughing in it, a Rockabilly who takes offence will spit its milkshake fist at the Psychobillies luminous quiff. The Psychobilly is rebellious- yes, in essence of course. They come equipped with a loaded leopard print hot dog, but the psycho ceases to take the billy name in vein, the psycho is the frantic hyper billy, call it billy-core. But it’s the relevancy of the reference and the combining and the coming from a place of grasping and pulling that is just so 2025, the psychotic billy is a GTA character - it’s exactly the same as a 2016 emo revivalist SoundCloud rapper, of course thats no longer hyper-2025 in reality, but that feeling of what that means is still here, you could say instead Psyschobillies are grunged out sleazy twee. The psycho is sleaze. I suppose it’s just the cultural Psychobilly feeling it’s the neon-ification of a thing it’s like the digitalisation of the analog it’s the technicolour of it all. The Psychobilly is a touchable Rockabilly avatar, it just feels so internet like a nightcore remix.
‘I think we are all Psychobillies I’m sure of it’ she said back to the TV
TV She: but also that’s so false obviously its all so hyperbolic but its punchy nonetheless. I just mean it’s the fusion and the psychedelic twin of the original, but it’s not jest or insincere it’s the mutation of it all. Maybe it’s not only a Psychobilly thing but it feels notable like chins and folding and the global high vis people.
